Jiuzhaigou is a nature reserve and national park in northern Sichuan Province. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and World Biosphere Reserve, and one of the most popular travel destinations in Sichuan.
Jiuzhaigou, literally “Nine Settlement Valley”, earned its name from the nine Tibetan settlements dotted in the area. It is known for the multi-level waterfalls, colorful lakes, and snow-capped mountain peaks.
“Once you’ve seen Jiuzhaigou, no other water scenery can impress you anymore."
The popular Chinese saying perfectly describes the stunning beauty of the many lakes, creeks, rapids and waterfalls within the area.
The crescent-shaped Long Lake is the highest, largest and deepest lake in Jiuzhaigou. Surrounded by snowy mountains, the mirror-like lake delivers an almost Nordic style fjord scenery.
Pearl Waterfall, a broad curtain of water cascading from the Pearl Shoal. The iconic ending credit scene of the famous Chinese television series Journey to the West, was filmed there.
The Nuorilang Lakes consist of 20 lakes of different sizes, depths and shapes. The waters are azure blue, with numerous creeks and waterfalls passing through the surrounding forest, and finallying forming the spectacular Nuorilang Waterfall at the end of their journey.
